The only problem I see with paddles like yours Ian is that the paddler might become mesmerised by the light making them glow, thus losing power and efficiency and the race😁😁 they look awesome.

interesting. Not sure if it would be for me (besides me not being much on SUPs). But, the more general purpose the craft is, the less good it is at any one thing. But, I could see a real use for something like this if you have a boat moored somewhere or have a water front property that you might want to sometimes get out of the wind and sit. or stand up to stay dry. Could be handy for a transportation vehicle to get you around the harbor, etc.

I really want to demo one of these 🤩. I’m a war canoe paddler from the Fraser Valley, BC. I’ve always pondered trying a Surfski with an Outrigger paddle. Our canoes are very simple designs. 21-24 ft length. 16-19” wide @ lowest part of hull. 24-45 lbs depending on your canoe maker. Rounded hull. Rudderless. Fully open hull. Typically dug out carved from cedar. Or laminated red cedar strips. I feel like we’d be able to transition into paddling one of these fairly quickly. Not to brag but it’s the balancing we are used to. Our open hull limits the type of water we can race and paddle. Choppy weather = sinking 😑. So I can see some great benefits already where I’m from, just in training opportunities. Maybe hit up Open small watercraft races! Let us know when these become available to demo!
